Orelle was called home to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 7, 2024, from Legacies Nursing Home in Hemphill Texas. She died peacefully with her daughters at her side. She was a woman who feared and praised the Lord. Her children rise up and call her blessed.
She was born a premature baby in her parent’s bedroom on their dairy farm in Stonewall, Louisiana and grew up there. Orelle married Paul Hinton (who called her “Baby”) before their final year at Louisiana Tech in Ruston. They settled in Pasadena Texas where she, as the perfectionist that she was, was the picture-perfect midcentury wife and mother, preparing from scratch three meals a day, cleaning, sewing. The family was active at Memorial Baptist Church.
In retirement they moved to Hemphill Texas on Toledo Bend Lake where she had the work of canning and freezing Paul’s produce. She actively shared God’s love to those around her.
Orelle is survived by her children: Pauline Hinton Tom (Mountain City TX), John Paul Hinton (Livermore CA), and Marsha Hinton Moon (Hemphill TX) and children-in-law: Ronald Tom, Helen Machuga, and Bill Moon. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tami Tom Zeiner, Ronda Tom, Nathan Machuga Hinton, Jessica Hinton Soper, Holly Villalobos and their spouses and 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and Sandra Lollar, who she considered as family, and by her sister-in-law, Nan Ellen Baker, who still lives on Baker Farm in Stonewall.
The family extends gratitude to Legacies Nursing Home in Hemphill, especially to Amber Mitchell and Marie Long, CNA’s who established precious bonds with Orelle.
Donations in memory of Orelle Hinton may be made to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering through Bethany Baptist Church in Milam or a local animal shelter.
Starr Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared at starrfuneralhome.com.
