MAXINE PATE

Graveside services for Maxine Pate, aged 85, of Bronson, Texas, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Bronson Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home, with Bro. Tommy Jackson officiating.
She passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at The Joseph House in Lufkin, Texas. Born on March 11, 1940, in Mount Holly, Arkansas, to A. J. Williams and Lynas Davis Hollamon, Maxine was a beloved member of her community.
She graduated from Malvern High School in Malvern, Arkansas, and pursued further education at Southwestern Business University in Houston, Texas. Maxine dedicated 25 years of her career as an office manager and automobile title clerk at Pate Motor Sales in Houston and South House. Later, she served the United States Postal Service as a part-time clerk in Bronson and a Career Clerk in Hemphill, retiring after 21 years of service.
Maxine was an active member of the Hemphill Missionary Baptist Church, where she contributed as a church clerk, children's teacher, and pianist, supporting her husband, Bro. Wesley Pate, in his pastoral duties.
She is survived by her sons, Dale Crites and wife, Precilla, of Mulhall, OK; Barry Crites and wife, Laurie, of Little Rock, AR; Wesley Pate, Jr. and wife, Mary, of Chireno; and Troy Pate of Bronson. Her daughters, Marla Erick of Malvern, AR; Amy Horne and husband, Jimmy Ray, of San Augustine; and Benje Holloway and husband, Joey, of Broaddus, also mourn her passing. Maxine is also survived by her brother, Mailon Williams and wife, Joyce, of Malvern, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Bro. Wesley Pate, Sr., her sisters, Emmogean Johnson and Janiece Spellmeyer, and her brother, L. J. Williams.
Serving as pallbearers are Jim Horne, Steven Sowell, Suzanne Walker, Darrick Walker, and Japhen Walker.
