Buster Kingsley, age 97, of Broaddus, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Lufkin, Texas.
Buster was born November 30, 1927, to parents Della Adella (Wells) and Simon Ransom Kingsley in the Hebron community near Broaddus and had been a lifelong area resident. He was married to Mozell Carrell Kingsley on March 13, 1948, and she preceded him in death in 2019. They were longtime faithful members of First Baptist Church.
In 1964, they opened Kingsley's Grocery in Broaddus which served as a general store, service station, feed store, and restaurant for the community. The entire family was involved in the work and operations of this business for several years. Buster was also a truck driver and continued this profession for many years.
Buster enjoyed nature and had a great passion for gardening. He and Mozell operated a farm raising cattle throughout the years. Favorite pastimes of Buster included playing dominoes and watching NFL games, especially his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
His survivors include his son, Clifford Kingsley and Shawna; son-in-law, Ray Bryant; grandchildren, Ray Allen Bryant, Angela Bryant McGown and Todd, Melissa Ann Kingsley Airhart and Danny, and Joseph Ryan Kingsley and Natalie; great-grandchildren, Emily Airhart, Cooper Airhart, Ashton Bryant, Nicholas Bryant, Taylor McGown, Kolby Bryant, and Kyndle Bryant; and a great-great-grandchild, Londyn Bryant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozell Carrell Kingsley; daughter, Carolyn Bryant; parents, Della Adella and Simon Ransom Kingsley; his brothers, Bennie Edward Kingsley, Paul Elton Kingsley, and Aulton Kingsley; and sisters, Lorene Price and Linda Kilcrease.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. W. Wayne Barth officiating. Committal service and interment followed at Broaddus Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials are offered to the Broaddus Cemetery Fund.
